![]() If you've been thinking of heading to Olympic National Park, only to hear it's been closed (temporarily, due to the government shut down) don't despair! Lake Crescent Cabin is open and has some available dates late in the month. Hoping for hiking? This time of year, East Beach Road is not heavily trafficked. The view changes as the sky and water change colors, and you can watch for river otter, deer, eagles, winter ducks and other wild life. Want something a bit more adventurous? Adventures through Kayaking is still running their most popular day trip - the NW Adventure, a day filled with mountain biking and kayaking. You can also take the drive out to Neah Bay to visit the Makah Whale Museum., or walk the boardwalk along Cape Flattery, and watch for whales. Looking for culture? The Storytelling Festival takes place in Port Angeles the third weekend of October. Come for the stories, then stay for a few days of relaxation at the cozy lake cabin. For more ideas, visit these web sites: Olympic Peninsula, Washington State Olympic Peninsula Blog Adventures Through Kayaking ![]() Fall is definitely showing its colors here on the lake. What a fantastic September! We are already booked through most of October, but have availability late October through December. Be sure to check out our calendar, and book your cozy late Fall getaway. Lake Crescent is always beautiful, no matter the weather, and the wood stove will keep you warm --perfect for snuggling up with a hot toddy or cocoa, a good book or a game of cribbage with a loved one while enjoying the view. ![]() Summers are family time on Lake Crescent. Here you see a double scull on a flat calm morning in August. Beyond in the distance is the "narrows" between Pyramid Peak on the right, and Mount Storm King and Hwy 101 on the left. If you were standing on the dock of the cabin this calm morning, you might see schools of small trout create mysterious looking ripples on the surface of the lake, or watch a larger Beardslee or Rainbow trout swim slowly beneath the surface. Kayakers paddle by, enjoying the beautiful morning, and occasionally a family owned motor boat with a water skier in tow will zip by, rooster tails creating rainbows in the sunshine. There are still a few options available in late August and late September to book the cabin. Learn more on our website! |
